Indians know the full form and meaning of the abbreviations used above.

SC = Scheduled Castes.
ST = Scheduled Tribes.
OBCs = Other Backward Classes.
India has caste system. Persons of some castes, claim a higher status, by birth. Persons of some caste, by birth, suffer social stigma.

Some solutions

Short term Solutions

*People should not disclose their caste under any circumstances.

*Names of people should not contain caste prefixes or suffixes.

*Govt. of India should make a law prohibiting names which disclose castes and religions. This should apply to persons of all castes and religions. Govt. and NGOs can maintain and publish a secular name-bank.

*College and University records should not disclose the castes and religions of the students. This privacy should be respected.

*Scholarship and hostel rosters also should not disclose the caste/religion status of students.

*Many persons of Scheduled Caste and tribes have changed to Christianity and have Christian names, while for drawing the benefit of SC/ST reservations, they mention their original caste in Government records. Christian names unnecessarily disclose the caste status of persons. Hindu names without caste prefixes/suffixes do not have that short-coming.

*School-College-University uniforms should be strictly implemented. This dress code, though violates the freedoms of individuals, we need, till society matures with individuals who can respect one another.

Long term solutions
*Even if all the castes and religions are removed, discrimination will continue.

*Rich students with BMW and Skoda cars may look down upon students without cars.

*Students may form groups on the basis of occupation, income and wealth of parents.

*This is in spite of separate schools and Colleges for the children of the elite.

*A real long term solution for this problem is Marxism. Everybody (except very old-aged and very sick) should work for their daily livelihood and be members of the working class.

*Inheritance of income and property should be made extremely small. Every young citizen should thrive on self-effort and self-respect rather than inheritance and parental glories.
